Founded by a woman, Retreat 4 Alegria’s mission is to help women regenerate emotionally and regain self-confidence after cancer treatment in a caring environment and warm climate of the Pacific Coast of Mexico – based on 3 main pillars: Horse Therapy, Meditation and Community.
HORSE THERAPY
Horses can be a mirror of our emotions, and allows us to carry out a work of introspection.
Please note that the horses are used for therapy and there is no obligation to ride them.
SILENT RETREAT
Hridaya Teachers will guide you to meditate with an open heart to encourage self-awareness and emotional processing.
STRENGTH IN COMMUNITY
Cancer often leads to increase isolation, loss of self-confidence and anxious state. Group therapy provides a supportive environment to work through personal challenges.
My story
The “after cancer” can be very challenging for many as it was for me. After the medical appointments regulating my daily life for close to a year, suddenly after going through chemo and radio, I felt vulnerable, waking up with anxieties, feeling lost and alone.
After, being diagnosed in June 2023 with stage 3a breast cancer, I had a double partial mastectomy in August 2023 (4 tumors and 6 lymph nodes) followed by 5 months of chemo and 3 weeks of daily radiotherapy through March 2024 – while going through a divorce. The divorced was pronounced during the chemo while my children lived abroad – I came out exhausted.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
LODGING & Day 1
Arrival at Casa Alegria, in San Agustillino, is a 5 bedrooms+ villa with a wading pool and ocean views from the top palapa (terrace).
DAY 2 & 6
The program includes 2 days of horse therapy, which will take place on day 2 and 6 – with art therapy in the afternoon. There will be an opportunity to ride the horses.
DAY 3, 4 & 5
On day 3, 4 and 5, we will walk through the beach to the Hridaya Center in the morning for the silen tretreat and come back via transportation in the evening.
